My name is Nathan Chalus and I am the starting goalie for the U-17 Chicago Inferno Youth Team. Also, I am on the Glenbard North High School Varsity team. This senior year, I was awarded All-State 1st team (and 1st team for all awards beneath) and All-State academic 1st team. I was voted as the Impact Player of the Year by my club for the year of 2013, Sophomore year, I started on varsity and I was nominated All-Conference HM and All-Area HM. Junior year, I started on varsity and was captain of the team. I was nominated All-Conference HM and All-Area HM again and made the 2014 Joe Navy Classic All-Tournament Team. I have strategically set goals for myself such as; making the Premiership team, winning the Premiership League, and leading my team to Nationals. To attain these goals, I have searched for additional goalie training opportunities including attending Camp Shutout, College Combines and Showcases, and training with goalie coaches within my high school and club.
Another factor that has assisted in my development as a goalie, is my extensive, well rounded athletic ability. Growing up I swam for the Carol Stream Swim Team where I still hold 2 conference records in backstroke. I have been wrestling since 1st grade and in fifth grade I wrestled for team Illinois in the Elementary School National Tournament. In Jr. High, I broke and maintain the school record for the discus throw, and out threw the conference record. As a freshman, I had 33 pins and 2 losses in wrestling which put me as the #1 freshman wrestler at Glenbard North High School. As these honors are not in the sport of soccer, but I feel they attest to my athletic ability as well as my determination to be the best!
