Growing up with parents who played sports in their childhood, I was quickly introduced to multiple sports at a very early age. I began playing soccer at four years old and immediately fell in love with it. Although I played basketball, baseball and volleyball growing up, my passion for soccer was above the rest. I am currently on the Oak Brook Soccer Club as I have been for the last five years as left back. My knowledge, skill and devotion towards the sport has significantly intensified every year since I began playing. As a player, I am very coachable and will make every effort to better myself even when it's not easy. I admit that my competitiveness has gotten me in trouble at times but it is also the driving factor that makes me do everything that I can to win a soccer match. Also, I have very good field awareness. I am a defender that can anticipate and intercept passes because I am aware of the location of all attackers at all times. I am a team player that has really taken over a leadership position on my club and high school soccer teams, taking it upon myself to ensure that all of my teammates are where they need to be throughout the game. My Junior year was the first year that I played on the varsity level yet I started every one of our games as left center back; I was one out of the two starting Juniors on the team. It was my first year playing with kids older than me but I stepped up to the challenge and ended the year being awarded West Suburban All-Conference player, Rookie of the Year (which was voted on by teammates) and the Scholastic Achievement Award. I also find soccer as great way to keep on my grades. Knowing I have soccer practice most days that not, I am more efficient at home when trying to get homework and studies done. I am currently in National Honors Society and plan to stay with it for the rest of my high school career. I really hope to continue playing soccer past high school simply because I love the sport so much.
