My name is Pablo Cuartas. I am a senior attending Marion High School in Marion, IL, and I am writing to introduce myself more personally.
This year I am 5'9", 160lbs., 5.75% body fat, very quick due to training in Middleweight and free-class recreational boxing and training in kickboxing, among the fastest players on my teams, and I have high stamina due to cycling, downhill, MTX, free-diving, and scuba diving.
My club experience includes playing for the Heartland Pulse U-16 at the age of 13, but only for one season due to the team's dissipation. Most of my club playing took place in Colombia with the Once Caldas Futbol Club preparation teams for five on the U-15, 14, 13, 12, 11 age divisions. State side, I was a supplement player for a nationally recognized U-16 U-17 3v3 team at the age of 14 and 15 respectively.
In high school, I played on the Junior Varsity squad one year and the Varsity squad for three years. Three out of the four years I was on the team, we claimed three conference titles, and three regional titles, both of which were firsts in the history of our soccer program.
On my team, my senior year especially, I was a leader among the players. Making sure every single player worked hard, but still leaving no player behind was one of my roles on the team at practice and on the pitch. I offer unquestionable loyalty to every teammate, and a source of motivation for the other players.
Over the course of my athletic endeavors I have tried to make myself like Reuben "Hurricane" Carter and "El Pibe" Valderrama, two athletes I have looked up to. With my grandfather playing professional soccer in Colombia, my mother swimming competitively all her life, and my father claiming three national titles in motorcross racing in Colombia, I work to follow in their footsteps of loyalty, perserverance, and humility.
Open mindedness has been a boon thus far in my life, so my college search has been no different. The main factor in my school decision is the balance between cost, location, and acedemic rigor. I want to be challenged in the class room, thoroughly. I am looking to go to school in the North or in the Midwest. The number of students is not an issue either way for me, but I would like to attend a D1 school for the spectator athletic experience. A school with some degree of Christian affiliation is an important aspect, however, as Christian faith has been a focus in my upbringing. Regardless of these prefences, I am open to a broad spectrum of schools.
I have not chosen a major for certain, but I am looking to go into Biomedical Engineering, International Business Administration and Communications, Pre-Med with a focus on Cosmetology Procedures and internal medicine, and as public serviceman involved in international communications and affairs.
In the end, I hope to be an impact on the team within the first year of playing. I realize that I can always learn something new, and am an extremely coachable player while still having the confidence to make decisions on and off the field. I humbly request your approval and that you may take interest in me as a player and also as an individual.
