Personal Statement
I play with the '02/'03 St. Louis Scott Gallagher (SLSG) Elite club program in the Midwest Region of ECNL. I have been with SLSG Elite for 5 years. 4 out of 5 of those years, I started as Left Center Defensive Back. When my '03 team merged with the '02 team, I began to get additional experience at Left Defensive Wing where I move forward and get integrated into offensive flanks. In the beginning, my SLSG Club Team played in the NPL. For the last three years, my Club Team has competed in the ECNL. These Elite Leagues have given me top-tiered competition across several Midwest states.
SLSG Elite is 2 hours away from my house. I practice 2-3 times per week and games are at least 2 hours away. I am dedicated to soccer and my last five years of long hours on the road just to train and play with the best in the area is evidence of my commitment to bettering myself and seeking out the highest levels of competition.
I am equally competitive in the classroom. I have a 3.55/4.00 GPA and understand academics, like soccer, takes focus and discipline to excel. In college, I plan to focus on a Business or Finance degree.
As my short video demonstrates, I am tough on the field. My ability to read the game coupled with my athleticism, allow me to stop most offense threats. Individual defending is my strength; I close down opponents, am tough on the tackle, and am able to distribute the ball over varying distances to initiate the counterattack. Perhaps my best asset and that might not show up on the film, is my ability to communicate and lead the entire back line (as well as lines in front of me). I understand that communication is key, so I am a vocal leader often times ensuring our defensive shape is compact and that we are difficult to break down.
I also fully understand soccer is a team sport and takes 11 men on the field thinking and acting as one unit. The team aspect on the field, and off the field, is of the utmost importance. I believe building friendships on, and off, the field is the best way to get the most out of a team. I am a team player.
My other hobbies include (just about) any other outdoor activity. I enjoy hunting, hiking and being outdoors.
