Personal Statement

I am a great candidate for your team because I am a team player.  Throughout my soccer career I have played at every position, even goalie in a state cup game.  I am willing to do whatever is best for the team and asked of me by my coach, because at the end of the day I want to win.  I am a coach-able player and a student of the game, who is always willing to learn and improve.  I am a highly competitive player who loves playing on the big stage, especially when the game is on the line.  I play with confidence and determination and am a leader on the field.  I have a strong desire to achieve success both in athletics and in academics.

He has good size for the next level and is certainly a presence on the field. I think he is a good target for set pieces and any other chances he has to get forward. I would recommend continuing to work on both attacking and defensive headers. Off the ball I would like to see Brant work harder to stay involved in the game. Whether it's stepping the line or opening up for a pass. Continue to concentrate on the defensive principles of 1v1 defending. It is so important to be proficient in this area at the next level. Looking forward to watching you again!

  • COACH FEEDBACK: I think you possess a lot of talent. You have good foot skills and 1v1 ability. I think you are a player who can definitely play at the college level. Being left footed helps you. Some areas that I think you could improve would be working to simplifying the game and improving your overall technical ability. What I mean by this is while you look comfortable with your right foot, see if you can improve the range of passing with your right foot. You are a good player; try to play simple and look to connect the pass bit faster. Pressure and physical contact will be faster and stronger. This will greatly enhance your tactical ability, too. Good vision of the field will allow you to make better decision, quicker. Thus you can showcase your potential even more.

  • Brant Mueller - Class of 2018 EXACT Soccer Camper Performance Report Chicago Boys Select 30 ID Camp - Dec 23, 2016 Height: 5’11” Home Town: Davenport, Iowa Position: Defender High School: Bettendorf High School Report Prepared by Coach David Stroud of Valparaiso University Skill set Overview (Rating: 100 Point Scale) Technical Abilities - 92 Passing - Creates opportunities for teammates with accurate passes. Rarely over or under hits the ball. Ball Control - Quality first touch in space, and controls the ball under pressure. Tactical Abilities - 89 Vision - Field vision is very good. Constantly checking over shoulders on and off ball allows for quick decisions. Defensive Awareness - Understands team defensive schemes, shows understanding of positioning and angles. Physical Abilities - 89 Agility - Showed good agility. Good body positioning and footwork helped you change directions quickly. Balance - Seemed to handle the challenges you faced well. Good job staying on your feet and not getting knocked off the ball. Mental Abilities - 89 Leadership - Excellent job taking charge and leading the team. Great communicator and motivator. Team Player - Great team-first attitude. Was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Coach Comments: Quiet but unassuming and good work rate as a defender. I thought he was consistent in defensive positioning and willing to speak up to his new teammates defensively. I thought his first touch was good. Pretty solid on vision of the field and made good passes out of the back. As a graduate of 2018, he still has time to develop physically to impose himself in the game. Coach Feedback - Preparing You for College Skill Development The key to preparing for college soccer is to continue improving your game. Here are a few areas you should continue to build: Technical Skill: Dribbling Tactical Skill: Speed of Thought Physical Skill: Speed Mental Skill: Confidence Coach Stroud's Tips for You Work on playing quicker - I thought your positioning is good. So let's work on keeping the head on the swivel, so that you can make faster decision. Knowing where the pressure is coming and where your teammates will allow you to play quicker and better decision. Don't worry about mistakes - You are quiet and unassuming so sometimes others may see that as missing a bit of confidence. I've noticed that when you made a mistake, your body language - I felt that your shoulder got smaller. Don't worry about mistakes, especially in training. Work on speed - I am sure you are lifting weights, but continue to work on lower body strength. Higher the level, speed will be one of the important aspects of the game.
