Personal Statement
My name is Kais Sabic and I am a 2004. I was originally born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, but moved to Marseille, France at the age of 15 in the summer of 2020 my junior year. I moved to France looking for a new challenge in the sport as the competition in the midwest wasn't the best at the time. When I arrived I immediately got into a team called SC Air Bel which was playing u17 national, the highest league in French youth football. As this was the covid year there was no season, so I was training all year, with high level players and coaches and even playing friendlies and training one year up during the spring. I changed clubs the next season as school was becoming more demanding and the club being closer to my school was more convenient. I was doing an IB program which was very difficult and time consuming which caused me to focus a little more on my schooling then soccer resulting in a decrease in my level and game time. This is why I decided to take a gap year and play senior football and not youth football at 18 to get my form back and focus solely on soccer. This whole experience in France has allowed me to build myself as a player but also as a young man as I was almost alone in France whilst still having my parents support all the way in Iowa. I know more or less the way college soccer works which is why I want to find a program for me as I know the opportunities that come along with playing college soccer.
