Personal Statement
I am from small town America, where sports are king. By the fifth grade I had made a name for myself as the fastest kid in town. I could run a 6:10 mile with no real training. By the seventh grade, I could run a 5:20 mile and learned that running is the foundation for all organized sports. I have played every organized sport there is. With each sport, I managed to be an important part of the team, usually in a defensive capacity. I learned that the best offense is a good defense and that is how I found my way to being a goalkeeper.
From the time I began playing sports, I have played with my younger brother. I have to thank him for being relentless on me. We have played scrappy basketball in the yard and he has kicked more goals on me than anyone I can think of. He is the one who pushes me to be better. So in a way, I play for both of us. I am glad that I have such a supportive family who will help me become more than just the fastest kid in town.
