Personal Statement
My name is Neil Fitzgerald, a senior captain for Wakefield High School entering a post-graduate year at Northfield Mount Hermon. This past year, I was a member of the U17 Massachusetts ODP Team and selected to the Eastern Mass High School All-Star Team. For the first time in 15 years, our high school qualified for the
State Tournament. Making the State Tournament certainly was the most important team goal and I would like to think that my contribution as captain and Middlesex League leading scorer helped us along the way.
Having earned a starting varsity position beginning freshman year, I am an attacking mid-fielder/striker with very solid foot skills and field vision. An honors student competing at the varsity level in three sports, I consider myself a well-rounded student athlete. Competition in the classroom and on the field has taught me the importance of time management for studies along with dedication to intense physical training. Full commitment to academics and athletics has kept me grounded and focused.
With high school graduation on the horizon, I have set a goal of playing soccer in college. Opportunities to play at youth and high school levels are given to many. The mental and physical preparation required to play college soccer is reserved for the few who not only possess the talent, but also a burning desire to compete at a higher level. Dedicated and passionate for the sport, I look forward to the next chapter that includes balancing studies at NMH while satisfying my passion for soccer.
