Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to find a college that suits me academically and socially, as well as continuing my career in soccer. I feel as if I am a fitting candidate for any team because of my commitment and determination. My previous coaches have told me how admirable they've become of "my fearlessness and consistent drive to win the ball no matter the circumstance or regardless of the opponent, whether it be a 6' 5" senior on a fast break or intercepting a through ball in traffic." I have been raised to the standards of "if I'm going to do something, do it right" and to always finish what I have started. I take this into consideration everyday whether it be my academics, my athletics or even day to day hurdles. I've played travel soccer for ten years now, and a few years ago my team recruited a new coach and instantly I could tell he judged me because of my size, yet I viewed this as a challenge to prove myself, not only to the coach but to myself. I would show up to practice everyday working harder than the last, but yet I would never see the field. I was chosen to sit out for state cup games, but rather stay at home, I would still take the 5 hour drive and to stand in the below freezing temperatures to support my team. I was told by the families of my teammates of how honorable I am and the decisions I make build my character leading me to who I am today. What makes me different from other recruits is my character.
