Personal Statement
I started playing soccer when I was about 7. I tried baseball when I was 5 and 6, but knew that it wasn't for me. When I first started playing soccer, I fell in love with it. I would go out everyday to play and mess around with the ball and watched hours of youtube videos to learn different techniques and skills so that I could be a better, all around player. In my early years, I played forward. As I grew and developed, I have played left wing, center back, and currently playing center mid. I have scored multiple hat tricks during my career and almost scored another one in my opening game of my senior year. My coach says I have a very good vision for where the ball needs to go. I am a natural leader on the field and captain of my varsity squad. I can bend the ball very well and use that to take corners for my team. I'm a lefty and can play any position on the pitch. I am very fast and have plenty of endurance allowing me to be a successful center mid. I have also played 3 v 3, indoor soccer, and futsal.
My parents are my biggest supporters and fans. They attempt to make it to every soccer game, no matter how far they need to travel. I'm excited to begin my journey in the college classroom! I have always made school a priority and take pride in my academics. I have a 3.9 GPA (non-weighted) and will do whatever I can to keep it that high my senior year. I am hoping that I can not only study at college, but continue to play soccer as well. I want to study engineering because I love to design and apply mathematics into a useful system.
I volunteer in the tech booth at my church for Sunday services as well as in the youth department. I am a student leader in youth and I have been nominated to be a speaker for Fellowship of Christian Athletes events. I have also been nominated to speak with fourth and fifth graders about the importance of team work. I'm heavily involved in my community wherever I am needed. I also play the piano and do carpentry work in my spare time, when I'm not playing soccer.
