Personal Statement
I have played soccer for many years. In fact, I started playing when I was five years old. Over the years I have learned many things about soccer from practices and games, such as ball control and field vision. While I am playing, I am still working hard and doing well in school. During junior high, I kept A’s every semester and in High School, I currently have a 3.7 GPA unweighted (4.0 weighted). While I love to play soccer, I keep academics in the front seat. When I am done with studying and homework, I work on my soccer skills. That is one of the reasons why I have some of my skills today, like my touch. Without practicing I would not be able to be playing on a team that plays one year up. My current club team has presented me with many opportunities such as great trainer who currently plays professionally and conducts great training sessions. Playing up and having a skilled trainer allows me to play with older kids that are bigger and faster than me. I have been able to overcome my delayed growth spurt to improve and play at my best.
There are many reasons why I want to study and continue to play soccer at the college level. I love to play soccer, and I would not know what to do with myself if I did not play. I think it would be a special experience to play college soccer and represent my school around the country. I think it would be a big task, but I would love to have the opportunity. I would learn time management skills from having to get all of my studying and class work done while still training and working out for many hours each day. If I was able to do both, I think I would be very prepared for later in life when I have to balance a job and other activities. These reasons are why I want to play soccer in college and they drive me to strive for a spot on a college team. Additionally, I want to play soccer because it is fun and it's something I have always loved doing.
