My goal in my college search is to find a school that can fulfill my academic desire. I want to attend the college that is the best academic fit for me so I can challenge myself and continue on with a high level education. On top of that, it is important for me to find a soccer program that can support me in academics, athletics, and other aspects of college life. I also want to be part of a program where I can contribute and support my teammates.
I tore my ACL in the spring of 2015. What sets me apart from others isn’t my injury, it is the determination I used to recover. I spent almost a year cheering on and supporting my club and high school teams. Throughout this time, I missed not being able to do all of the things that soccer had enabled me to do. This made me even more determined and driven to come back stronger. For 10 months I drove an hour four times a week to rehabilitate my injured knee, strengthen my whole body, and improve my athletic abilities. Through this rehabilitation, I worked out with other high achieving and motivated high school and college athletes. They pushed me beyond what I thought I could do.
One of the quotes at my rehab and performance clinic is “Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.” I no longer look at my torn ACL as an injury that set me back, but extra motivation to be better than before.
I started playing again in March of 2016. Because of my versatility, my coach has me playing forward, attacking-mid, defensive-mid - where ever the team needs me in any given situation. The hard work I put in over the last year has prepared me for this.
