Personal Statement
My name is Andrew Shirley. I play forward and central attacking midfielder for Minneapolis United u17 Premier and Hopkins High School in Minnesota. I aspire to continue on playing soccer at the next level in college.
I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old, and I have been playing for Minneapolis United for 4 years. I have also participated in the Minnesota ODP program. I have been on the Minnesota State Team for 4 years in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014. I have also been a MYSA ODP Symposium demonstrator in 2013 and 2014. Along with playing for Minneapolis United and the ODP program, I have also guest played with the U16 Shattuck St. Mary's USSDA team.
On the non-athletic side of things, I am an honor roll student with a 3.88 GPA. I am taking several AP and Honors classes, including AP United States History and AP Calculus. I also play percussion in the High School Band and am learning to play the guitar. I also am a certified soccer referee, so I have a great understanding of the game and I am constantly around it. I am not yet decided on my preferred major, but a couple of fields of study that interest me are Business, Law, and Sports Management.
Soccer is something that I have been involved with for a long time and my goal is to continue to play in a competitive environment once I graduate from High School.
