Personal Statement
Ever since I was little I have always dreamed about playing college soccer. That time has finally come! My love for the game coupled with years of training have made me ready and it's exciting to think I could possibly play at the next level.
I have played soccer my whole life. However, there was a time when I questioned if I was good enough. You see in NH the cut off date for sending your child to school is Sept. 30th. My birthday is Sept. 28th. I was one of those kids my parents sent. So I am literally the youngest kid in my class and I do have to work harder both on and off the field. Around 8th & 9th grade when all my friends were getting taller, faster, and size seemed to matter on the field I questioned if I was good enough. But I love the game, so I just keep working. When I had to be faster, so I joined the track team. When I had to practice more, I attended camps and every indoor league I could. Going into my junior year I wanted a slot on our varsity soccer team. Exeter HS is a big school and making varsity as a (young) junior I knew would not be easy. I got invited by the Varsity Coach that summer to some scrimmages. I had to prove what I lacked in size (at that time) I made up for in hard work and dedication. Despite the fact that it was summer and time for friends, I went to everything and anything I was invited too. I worked hard and always gave it my best. I made the varsity team last year and today as a senior I am a starting player. I'm the youngest senior on our varsity team. Last year we were DI State Champs. Sometimes I think if my parents had held me back (which so many do) maybe the game and even academics would be "easier", but learning to "play up" has made me stronger, tougher, and forced me to work just that much harder than others.
My experience on our varsity team has lead me to this point. I have loved playing varsity soccer in high school and now want to consider the next level. Academics are also very important to me as I maintained a 3.4-3.5 GPA throughout high school. I am a great teammate and have a positive attitude both on and off the field.
