Personal Statement
My goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level. I have been a 5-year starter for the NJ Stallions Academy Team (based in Clifton, NJ) -- a team which has been ranked among the top teams in the State for many years. Recently I earned http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/unsigned-showcases:-tri-state-boys-best-xi_aid39589
I was voted Top Midfielder for my Conference -- reported by the local North Jersey Newspaper The Record. A team which was, at certain points ranked as high as Top 5 by GotSoccer. I have been fortunate to play in two Super-Y National Finals Tournaments (December 2014 and 2013) in Bradenton, Florida (at the IMG Academy). In addition, I think I am somewhat different than some other recruits because as a Freshman I was selected to play at the highly competitive Varsity Level in the Northern, NJ public school Colonial League. I am, in fact, the only Freshman who played Varsity this past season for Glen Rock High School. Also, only 5 Freshman in the past 15 or so years have ever made Varsity at Glen Rock High School. I was the leading goal scorer for my Varsity team and lead the team in points (including Bergen Cup play).
Academically Glen Rock High School is among the top public high schools in New Jersey (i.e., it has been ranked among the top 10 and 5 on many occasions). I have applied my work ethic in the classroom as well and maintained a 3.75 GPA.
I would say that I love winning -- but also realize that you must train and work hard to achieve success. Also, when losing, which is unavoidable at times, you go down together with your teammates and must never play the blame game. As they say, win as a team and lose as a team. I prefer the first part of that saying!
