Personal Statement
I would like to proudly announce that I have committed to Nichols College. The most influential thing on who I am is my strong relationship with my family. Knowing that they are there for me, even in a time of need, allows me to stretch myself and have the courage to take risks that I might not have taken without their support. Their encouragement motivates me to give my very best to anything I am committed to doing. My father introduced me to soccer at a very young age and I quickly became intrigued with professional players in the Premier League. I began to learn the game through my father’s passion. I set a personal goal of being a team player who others would respect as a team captain which I achieved on three different teams. The thing I learned about myself through this sport is the hardest time to be leader is when you are losing, but that is the most important time to be a leader! Since I have been on many different teams, I have learned that when a team brings negative energy to a game they are not as strong as they could be and are not working well as a unit. I rely on positive attitude when trying to improve my team through communication.
In both high school and college, my goal is to work my hardest in order to achieve the best GPA I can have. It is my personal goal to rank as one of the top 20 members of my high school class. The biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is the lack of opportunity to play on a premier caliber team, since I live in a rural area. From a young age, I knew in order to take my game to the next level I would have to be dedicated to travelling over an hour away in order to play soccer at a competitive level. This meant I would have to have good time management skills so I could excel both on the soccer field and in the classroom. I have been successfully doing this since third grade. I attribute my success to my passion, self-discipline and I strive for excellence.
