Personal Statement
My aspiration is to play soccer in college. I have been playing this sport since I was 6 years old. I am on the Metropolitan Oval Academy as a winger. Met Oval is ranked number 3 in New York State. I am also playing on the Varsity Team at the United Nations International School, as a striker.
I have played in clubs in NY since I was 6, mostly at DUSC. In the year before my family moved to the United Arab Emirates, where I lived for four years 2012-2016 June, I was invited to try out for the U14 Red Bulls Academy. It was a missed opportunity.
While I was in the UAE I still played soccer competitively. I played with a club called Thistles and made it to the Varsity at the American Community School in grade 9. I played Varsity as a starter 4 years in a row. I also practiced with the Abu Dhabi national youth team The Al Jazirah Academy. I moved back to NY in late 2016.
I am a good candidate to have because I am consistent and reliable and give my utmost when I am on the field. I am also a great team player with no attitude. I will be a good candidate for your team because I consider myself a strong player who is good at winning and losing. Living overseas and playing with people from all over the world has also taught me a great deal about inter-personal skills. My exposure has contributed greatly to my experience as an athlete and to the person I have become. I have a great deal to contribute to the team and university (whichever one i may join) because of my skills, my personality and my international background. My father is Irish Canadian and my mother is from Bhutan. My father works in Private Equity and my mother is a journalist. Both these people have influenced me greatly and made me very aware of my role in life and in sports. Last year and this summer I conducted a soccer camp in Bhutan for children (girls and boys) that do not have the opportunity to get the kind of training that I have had the privilege of having over the years in prestigious camps in the U.S. I also collected used soccer gear to give to them. I hope that you will consider me for your team. I promise you, you will not regret it.
