Matt Stefaniw '18 Recruiting Profile

Soccer has run through my family for many years, My two older sisters both played in college. Growing up in a family where soccer is very important really makes you look at it as more then a sport. The time that changed me as a person and a player was when I was told "I wasn't good enough". That made me work and push my self to become the best I could be. Everyday I give 100% effort in what I do. Whether its a job or school work, I will give the best I got. I don't really have any college goals at the moment because i'm focused on high school and my soccer. I don't really focus on something that's so far into the future. Soccer has taught me many things in my life, it has taught me that even if you have the best players on the same team, if that team doesn't work together as a team they cant beat a team that works as a unit. Skill is one thing but you have to be strong mentally to be successful and I believe that's something i'm really good at. Being just as smart as you are skillful is very important to being a good player. I like to call my self a leader. Not as a good communicator stand point but as a representation of how hard you should work on and off the field (academically and physically). Always giving 100% is very important and i try to spread that through the whole team. I will give you the best and hardest work on and off the field.
