Personal Statement
I love soccer and my dream is to become the best soccer player I can. It is no secret, that to be great at anything takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Yes, it helps to have a talent and natural abilities, but I realize that talent alone will not bring me to the top and guarantee success in soccer. I firmly believe that to achieve any dream, whether in sport, or any other area of life, I must work harder than anyone else. I commit myself to doing the right things every day, never take shortcuts, and focus on getting the best out of today and tomorrow. There are no shortcuts on the way to the top, and I'm fully committed to working hard every day to improve all areas of my game. It's my lifestyle now.
I learn as much as I can every time I step on the field. I know that every skill I practice and try to perfect, could never be "too good" or "good enough", because there's always room for improvement and growth. I also think it is very important not to relax after achieving a success, but to keep working even harder and try to bring your game a step further, because when you reach a top level, people are always looking to catch up, and sooner or later they do.
In addition to my hard work, I'm always willing to listen to good advice and absorb new information, to follow coach's instructions and his game plan. I know it happens sometimes, that a couple of very good players could carry the whole team, but still, no player could be bigger and more important than the team or club. Soccer is a team sport, and every player should put the team interests first and be willing to work for the good of the team.
And it all does go wrong from time to time, mistakes are made, all kind of setbacks happen. I just make a note of what went wrong and why, and try not to let it happen in the next play or the next game.
I realize, that sometimes things just don't go the way we plan them regardless of how hard we work on those plans. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. One should always have a plan B. I understand, that I might not make it as professional soccer player even despite all my best efforts and hard work. Then I would still like to build my career in sports area, around athletes and their needs. I want to study physical therapy and sports medicine. I apply the same amount of work and effort to my studies in the classroom as I do on the soccer field.
