Personal Statement
My name is Nicholas Killian; most of my friends call me Nick. I am currently in the last quarter of my 11th grade year in high school. My parents are in the military and this has greatly influenced my upbringing. In my short life, I have moved seven times and as a result I am more outgoing, culturally aware, apt to try new things and more comfortable with change than my peers. At a young age I was drawn to soccer. When I lived in Portugal as a young boy I was introduced to soccer by the native kids, because it is so popular there. I continued to move, and as I got older, I used soccer as an outlet that I could always depend on when everything else of a new town was foreign to me. I also used soccer to make friends in each new place and gain camaraderie with local players. I play on varsity in high school and have been selected for club and ODP teams for the past 5 years. My goal is to obtain a good education that will solidify my future and to continue playing soccer after high school at the collegiate level. I am passionate about the game and my ultimate dream would be to play professionally, but realistically I realize that having a solid professional career is also important. I am open to attending any school, at any level. I currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada and would love to be near my parents but I also realize that the military will be moving them in a couple of years, so I am willing to go to any school in the United States with a soccer program that would consider me an asset to their team. On all the teams I have played on I received positive feedback because I am vocal (always communicating with my team mates), physical (protecting the ball and protecting the goal), and hard working (in all things).
