Personal Statement
Hello, I’m Gregg (Louie) Sebring. I am a 6’1”, 175 lb. 2016 graduate “stopper” on the Northwestern High School men’s varsity soccer team and I would like to tell you a little about myself.
I have been a varsity starter since my freshmen year and have already played enough halves this season to earn my third varsity letter, in fact over my varsity career, I have played over 90% of all the available minutes. In our current formation, I play the “stopper” in a modified 4-4-2 formation with a diamond shaped backfield, but I have adapted to many other formations and positions playing in local leagues, indoor, and futsal. My goal, in each game, is to quickly diagnose and adapt to the offenses strengths which allows me to disrupt their attacking plays. I have great trapping skills and use them to consistently deliver a good first touch, often in the form of an accurately placed loft to one of the strikers. I am proud of my sprinting ability which allows me to cover a lot of ground quickly and to effectively play forward and still back up my sweeper. My team mates appreciate my ability to use my past experiences to help direct the defense and midfield movements.
Academically I have earned the Van Gorder Young Scholar Award and maintaining a 3.7/4.0 grade point average in a school district rated as excellent with honors while pursuing a college preparatory curriculum including: Calculus, College Prep. English and Physics. Currently, I am enrolled full time at Clark State Community College through the College Credit Plus program and taking: Calculus 1, intro psychology, Great Books, and Western civilization since 1600. My first attempt on the ACT resulted in a score of 27 and I am planning on retaking it later this year.
My goals are to continue to play soccer and to get a four year degree in a math or science based field. I would like to play collegiate soccer at the highest level possible. Long term I would like to use my education and efforts to become a productive member of society.
If you have any questions please call one of my listed contacts or e-mail me. Also my coach is willing to take questions if you would prefer to get in contact with coach Travis Holder. I look forward to talking with you.
