Personal Statement
I attend North Olmsted High school in Ohio, Division I soccer. I am strong with both my left and right foot. I have good field awareness and vision for playing through balls, switching point of attack and crossing the ball. My high school coach would tell you that I elevate our team's level of play when I take the pitch. My club and private coaches will tell you I am a very technically sound player.
My Senior year, I led our team in scoring. I was named 2017 Academic All Ohio, 2017 National Wendy's High School Heisman School winner, named to the All Greater Cleveland Division 1 Team, All Conference Team, Team Offensive Player of the Year and team Captain. My Junior year I was selected as All-Greater Cleveland Division I, Honorable Mention and All District SWC Division I Second Team. I was also selected as team Captain. I started as a sophomore and was named MVP of the Varsity team for the 2015 state playoffs as well as Most Improved Player. I also earned a team hustle award. As a freshman, I led the team in scoring. I was named team Captain and Offensive Player of the Year. I tied a single season scoring record as a freshman at my high school, 15 goals with 4 assists. I am a versatile player. Depending on the team's formation and because I am a switch-foot, I play outside left midfield, outside right midfield, attacking and defending midfield and forward. I am not a flashy player, but work hard on the field and get the job done.
I have played club soccer since I was 8 years old. My club teams played in the MRL Region II, NPL, National League and Super Y leagues as well as CASA and Ohio North State Cup.
As a native of northeastern, Ohio, I am acclimated to the difficult weather conditions this area of the country brings. I am not limiting myself to the Midwest region and I am not particular to any part of the country where I will play collegiate soccer. I believe I have the skills and work ethic to be a contender at any level.
I pride myself in working hard both during the season and in the off seasons where I play futsal, indoor soccer, and personal training consisting of strength and speed, agility and tactical training to make sure I am mentally and physically conditioned for the season to begin.
I am an outstanding student, striving to perform my best in the classroom at all times. I am looking for a university which will help me reach my career aspirations while getting to play soccer, the game I love.
My ultimate goal is to play The Beautiful Game in college. I have been team captain for my travel team, high school team as well as club team. I have learned to cope with the ups and downs on and off the pitch throughout my many years of soccer experiences. As a team captain, I learned about leadership, commitment, team building and determination. My soccer team becomes my family. I am looking forward to extending my soccer family in college.
During the summers I volunteer for the week long local youth soccer camp where I work with the young kids, helping them learn skills and have fun with soccer and volunteer at the Youth Development Academy for the North/South TCFC players. I also coach a youth team and volunteer for the Eagles Athletic Boosters. This past year I volunteered to help serve Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter meals to those in need through the work of St. Augustine's Church. I also worked with an organization called Trials for Hope, which helps underprivileged youths in our local area. I also volunteer monthly at the O'Neill Assisted Living Center, interacting with the senior residents, playing games and helping to keep them active, and at The Kemper House where they care for patients with Alzheimer's and dementia. I have learned through volunteering that there is a greater purpose in life and serving and helping others is extremely important to my personal development and overall personal growth.
In addition to playing high school and club soccer, I am the team Captain for my high school basketball team. I play shooting guard, point guard and small forward.
I formerly played travel baseball for the Lake Erie Thunder, playing short stop, left field and relief pitcher. Our Thunder team won back to back league championships in 2013-2014 and was runner up in 2012.
I am Co-President of my high school's Spanish and World Languages Club and a Member of the National Honor Society Wunderkind Chapter of the NASSP for the past 2 years and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. I am VP of Finance for my Entrepreneurship Business class I have also been accepted into the S. I. T. E. S. program (Social Involvement Through Education and Service where I volunteer at St. John’s Westshore Hospital). I was selected as a Delegate representing my city at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders, receiving the following: National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologies Award of Excellence. 2/24/2017.
