Personal Statement
My name is Jean-Paul Pelletier. My friends and teammates call me JP. I have been playing competitive soccer since I was 6 years old. I started that year as a U-8 player and played a level up through U-14. At that time, I was living in Derry, NH, and was on the Derry Eagles. Our team won many soccer tournaments in New Hampshire and Maine. In 2003, we won the Division 1 Open Team Cup and were State Champions. Because I was a year younger than my teammates (and smaller than all of them), I had to work very hard to earn my starting position. I never shy away from hard work because of my past experiences. I moved to Norman, Oklahoma in November 2009 and have played with the Norman Celtic Black team since that time. I have been selected as team captain at the travel level, as well as by my middle school soccer teams. Last year, as a freshman, I was a starter for the freshman and JV team at Norman High School. I also played a few Varsity games as well. I played the entire game for freshman and JV most of the time.
My personal strengths are my foot skills with the ball, my passing ability, and my ability to see the entire field at any given time. I am a team player and love when I make the perfect pass to someone who is able to score.
My personal goals are to get a top-rate education in Computer Technology/CyberSecurity while being able to play soccer at the highest competition level possible. I have dreamt about playing college soccer and beyond since I was very young. I feel my skill as a player and my attitude as a person will have a positive impact on whatever team I get the opportunity to play on. I hope to make that dream come true.
I am open to different types of schools, as long as they offer my degree preference and have a competitive soccer team. As my mom is disabled, our family will have a financial need to ensure that I am able to attend the college of my choice. I have 2 younger brothers, so it is important to me to be a role model for them and be the best that I can be in school and in soccer. The next step to preparing for my future is to choose a college that is a perfect fit for both of us.
