Personal Statement
An event that impacted my life in an affirmative way was being invited to a camp in Scotland to train and play with Rangers F.C. Although I’ve been very fortunate at the opportunities I’ve been given, it hasn’t come easy. Everything great comes with a price and that’s something my family learned the hard way due to our struggles with money. I initially developed a unique passion for soccer when I went to a national tournament to watch my brother play. Seeing how much his team wanted to win each game to reach the final, including how hard my brother worked and pushed his team to be better is what commenced that intriguing rush of competition that I now feel when I play. I want to keep competing at a high level but I know in order to reach my goal I need to keep a 3.5 GPA and I’m aiming for an ACT score of at least 25. In college, I want to find a school that I can keep competing in and get a degree in business management and be one of the first in my family to graduate college. My junior year in high school was the best year I’ve ever had in soccer after coming short the past 2 years and losing in the semifinals. Regardless of our past failures, we were able to become the first team in East Central’s soccer history to reach a state final and accomplish a salient name for ourselves. Throughout this past decade of me developing an even more prodigious interest in soccer I’ve learned that I should humble myself regardless of my personal and team accomplishments. A good and humble attitude is what makes a player go from good to excellent in my opinion. I realized that work ethic is a major factor of what makes me the person and player that I am today.
