Personal Statement

Soccer has taught me a lot over the years. I haven’t always been fortunate enough to be on the winning team, and I'm glad it turned out that way, otherwise I might not have learned all the things I know now.

Living in a small town has its challenges. Soccer isn’t the most popular form of recreation where I’m from, so I have to take every chance I can get to get on the field.  Playing on different teams is a very common thing for me. Since I've played on many different teams and in different leagues, I have learned to adapt to different players playing styles and learn how to best work with them, to benefit the team in the best way possible. Being taught by many different coaches has had its ups and downs, but I feel like I have grown as a player, and have learned more about myself and soccer because if it.

Playing professional ball has been a goal of mine since I was little. I now realize that it's not so easily obtained. Many hours of hard work will have to be put in to reach that goal, and I'm willing to put that effort in to get to play in college. Academically I want to perform well and strive to be the best I can be. My goals in academics would be to achieve a 3.0 or higher average GPA. For a career I am looking into kinesthesiology, preferably a physical trainer or team trainer.

The reason I play soccer isn't because of the money. It's not because of the glory, it's because I love the game. Loving the game and being able to go out on the pitch and feel at home is the most important part of soccer. If I stand on the field, seconds before the first whistle blows, and I don't feel at home, then I'm playing with my head, not my heart. I play because I've fallen in love with the game.
