Personal Statement
I have been a team captain of the Williamsport Area High School soccer team for the past two seasons. This season we went 13-3-2, including 10 shutouts, and allowed 11 goals against us all season. We were league champions (Heartland I), for the first time in WAHS boys soccer since 1995. I was named first-team defender in my conference and was also a first team all-star in my area by the Sun-Gazette newspaper. In the off season, I am involved with two club teams. On the 97'B Force team based in State College, Pennsylvania, we competed in the regional Division 2 Champions league, finishing in 4th ahead of Bethesda SC, SAC Premier, Beadling, and Pittsburgh Football Club. I am also involved in a training and tournament team called STN NorthPenn. I am always looking to improve and work everyday in order to do so.
I am involved in both the NorCennPenn League and the Valley Futsal League in the winter with teammates from my high school. Besides center back, I've also played defensive midfield and outside back, but my coaches prefer me as center back because I communicate well in controlling the defense. I also run track, which has built up my speed and endurance. As a member of the WAHS Varsity Track and Field team, I competed in the 800m and 400m races for my district. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week to maintain and build up my strength and fitness.
My high school coach put me in a leadership role, as captain, starting in my sophomore year. I have twice been presented with the "Defensive Award" from my varsity coach for my "exemplary defensive skills and leadership during the season."
Although I have a busy athletic schedule, I am consistently a High Honor Roll student in the top 5% of my class. In fact, my coach has given me an award for maintaining an A average during the varsity season, three years in a row.
Thank you for taking time to look through my NCSA profile. I have set many goals for myself this coming year both academically and as an athlete. I look forward to talking with you soon about my college soccer career.
