Tyler Chiste '16 Recruiting Profile

After my second year in high school, I realize that I have begun to understand myself a little more and I have become aware that part of who I am is a person who strives in everything to be the best that he can be.  I have also come to understand that a lot of who I am has come from my parents.  My Mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis before I was born.  Again, my maturity has helped me identify her strength, courage and tenacity in the face of physical limitations that as a child I never saw as "different".  It is from her that I absorbed the attitude to never take no for an an answer, forge ahead with your goal in focus no matter the obstacles.  I have always known my father as the "soldier".  I knew that he was a "Green Beret", but I was too young to understand what that meant.  But, the very characteristics that helped him through Special Forces training are what he gives to me as standards to live by; being strong physically and mentally, flexible, dedicated, resourceful and willing to sacrifice for the good of family and country.  As I go forward, how I use all of these skills they have given me will help define me as a person.  I realize that the goals I have set for myself may seem high.  But, I am counting on the skills I have been taught and my inborn drive to help me become a successful at fulfilling my dreams.  Even though I would prefer to be kicking a soccer ball than sitting in a classroom, I realize that my education is primary.  Although I am only in my junior year, I have identified an area of which I am very interested in.  I am fascinated with behavioral sciences and look to pursue a degree in that field.  My competitive nature is just as apparent in my academics as it is on the playing field.  As a member of the Gifted Program and National Honors Society I have had the opportunity to reach out into areas I would otherwise not be exposed to.  I have always maintained a 4.0 and it is my desire to keep it that way!
