Personal Statement
My name is Mitchell Race and I attend Souderton Area High School in Souderton, Pennsylvania. Growing up I played many sports but the two sports that I enjoyed the most were soccer and Alpine Ski Racing. I recently gave up Alpine Ski Racing to concentrate on my academics and soccer. Academically, I am a strong student and a National Honor Society member. I am currently achieving honors and maintaining a high GPA while taking Honors courses. For the past two years, my teachers and the school administration selected me to be a Link Crew member, a peer advocate to help mentor and support the incoming freshmen as they transition to high school. I am seeking a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I have full intentions of being a goalkeeper in college and supporting the team along with my teammates. Soccer doesn't stop with my training and playing; I enjoy coaching youth athletes and helping them learn and play the sport I love. I currently hold licenses through U.S. Soccer in the GRASSROOTS 4v4 and 7v7. I hold diplomas in Level 1 Goalkeeper Coaching and Level 1 Futsal Coaching, and certificates in the Foundations of Coaching, Small Sided Games and Get aHEAD Safely in Soccer though United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA). I am also a certified Grade 8 Referee through USSF. I achieved over a 92% in all of the licensing, diploma and certification courses while successfully balancing school and club soccer commitments.
