Personal Statement

As I closed my eyes and sang my national anthem with joy, I knew I had made it to where I belonged. After 13 years of dedication, determination, and passion, soccer has become an integral part of my life. Day after day, I wake up early in the morning to start my routine, fulfill my academic requirements, and maximize my athletic potential. Although I began my soccer journey following my brother’s footsteps, as I reached middle school, I decided to create my own path. My name is Edric Toro and becoming a college student-athlete is my dream. Let me show I have what it takes.

This sport has been much more than a hobby; it has become my haven, the place where I am able to demonstrate who I really am. Having the opportunity to be captain of my club team and the national team has shaped me into a leader who always strives for the best without letting his head down. Besides acquiring sport-like qualities, soccer has shaped me academically as well. It has shown me that there is always room for improvement and that if you train for it, you can achieve it.
