Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Carlos Espina, I am a 16 year old Junior who plays varsity soccer for A&M Consolidated High School and plays club for Albion Hurricanes. I am a die hard soccer fanatic and hope to play for a great college (Both athletically and academically) and one day play professionally. Having been born in Uruguay, I have always had a great passion for soccer. Due to this passion, I am very knowledgeable of the sport on and off the field. This passion drives me to be the best I can and makes me hungry for success.
I believe that I am a great candidate for any team because I have a great work rate and attitude. I do not complain and I do what I am instructed to do. I prefer to play as a defensive midfielder, but due to my great vision and positioning on the field and phenomenal fitness I can play anywhere in the midfield. Having spent most of my life in Texas, I have grown accustomed to playing in blistering hot conditions as well as playing in below freezing weather, making me an ideal player year round. My specialties are passing, both short and long, possessing the ball, long shots, set pieces, and slide tackling/defending. All these attributes have led me to be nicknamed "bulldog" by my coaches and teammates.
Academically, I am above average. I have a 3.54 weighted GPA and most of my classes are Pre-AP or Honors. I try to balance soccer and academics as well as I can and try my best in both areas. I speak Spanish and English fluently. I am interested in many things and love to learn about everything. I am a part of the NHS and am in the top 25% of my class.
Overall, I hope to one day play soccer at a great University/College and make my family and friends proud.
