Personal Statement
It is imperative to exhibit a positive attitude, tenacity, and perseverance when confronted with obstacles. Moving to a new city this year as a freshman, I was instantly faced with a variety of challenges from the class size doubling to 800 students, trying out for the soccer team, and making new friends. As a goalkeeper, I have learned that numerous situations arise, which require being a leader, communicating direction, and encouraging others to persevere through trials to become a stronger person or team.
Since I am a goal-driven student-athlete, I embraced these issues with diligence and determination in the classroom and on the field. I enrolled in advanced classes to challenge myself academically while maintaining a high GPA. I was the only freshman to make the varsity team; the first day of practice I immediately drove myself to train harder, striving and earning the starting keeper position by midseason. "You can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get." Michael Phelps.
I envision myself attending a college with high academic standards, which will help facilitate in reaching my goals in medicine. On the soccer field, I aspire to be an asset to the program as a dynamic and confident goalkeeper while conducting myself with honor and respect. I will continue to have a strong work ethic, set and achieve goals, and strive to become an exceptional keeper, teammate, and student.
