Colin Horman '18 Recruiting Profile

"Colin Horman is a 2000 player who I recently had the pleasure of coaching at the Region IV ODP Championships. He was one of 18 players selected to the Utah ODP Championship Team. This is the first year I worked with this group, and I was very impressed with Colin's play. As a central back, who can play either the 4 or 5 position, his ability to 1 v 1 defend is excellent. His ability to read not only the game, but his opponent as well, allowed him to take away a lot of the oppositions strength in the final third progression. He has a very good command on his first touch, has a strong skill set in making quality distributions out of the defending third. Off the field Colin is a quality young man, a strong leader." Rarely am I given the opportunity to write a letter of recommendation for an athlete for whom I have such regard. It is, therefore, with great pleasure and my enthusiastic support that I endorse Colin Horman as an upstanding individual and a highly-talented soccer player. Having just completed his season, I have had the privilege of being Colin’s soccer coach for the past five years. I can say with confidence that Colin is a dedicated student athlete who is capable setting a solid example with his efforts on and off the field.  The word that I associate with this young player is "effort". He has always given his greatest effort while on the field. As a defender on Utah Soccer Alliance Premier and Olympic Development Program teams, he has faced many strong attackers from across the western states. Our schedule consists of playing teams from the Desert Premier League (DPL) and College Showcase tournaments. Colin never complained about anything, making him a very coachable player.  He comes to training every day to improve individually and also as a team player. Colin’s commitment to any activity he is involved in is one of his finest qualities.  Colin’s goal is to become a college soccer player at a Division I school. Over the years I have known him, he has portrayed great enthusiasm in everything he puts his mind to. I have also seen him portray the discipline and commitment necessary to become a successful player at the next level. He would be a great asset to any school.
