Michael Toliver '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Michael Toliver, and I am a senior at North Stafford High School, in Stafford, Virginia.  I play soccer for North Stafford under Coach Troy Pugh, and I have played travel soccer since the age of 10 at Stafford Soccer (SASA), and this past year I played travel soccer for Fredericksburg Area Soccer Association (FASA).  For the past two years, I played soccer for North Stafford first as a member of their Junior Varsity Team, and last year on their Varsity Team.  I am currently training for the tryouts for the Varsity Team this year.  I have attended several College ID camps at the University of Mary Washington, George Mason University, and Lynchburg College over the past year.

In the past, I have served as an assistant coach for a Stafford U-10 soccer team.  As an assistant soccer coach working with children, I learned that we all are different, and we see the world through different lenses, interpreting the views in multiple ways. Gaining an understanding of others helped me to improve others and myself. I served as a role model to the children under my care by my words and action. I understood my responsibility to them, and the organization that gave me the opportunity to teach them the game that I love. As a member of several soccer teams from the age of 10, I also learned the value of being a member of a team and that leadership does not mean a focus on you, but a focus on the team. My goal and focus is to make the team better.

My goal after high school is to pursue a degree in Computer Programing; however, I am extremely interested in playing soccer in college.  I am interested in a college that offer diversity in studies, culture, and experiences that will allow me to enhance my educational experience and become not only a degree-seeking individual, but also a more rounded human being.
