Coaches,
My name is Daylan Burgess and I want to play NCAA College Soccer at the D1 level but in order for this to happen, I know that I have to be the best player that I can be. Ever since I was a young kid, I always wanted to play at the highest level and be on the best teams possible so I made sure that I continued to get better each and every day.The things that make me a good candidate for your team would be that I am a hard worker on the field, academically sound, and will give 110% all of the time.
One thing that stands out about me is my leadership skills. I am a naturally born leader who leads by example and embraces the challenge of leading my teammates, keeping a level head, and staying mentally and physically tough. Also, I am a very versatile player and can play in different positions. My primary position is forward but depending on the opponent, I can also play center back and outside back to help contain the best players on the opposing team. Whether I am in practice or in the game, I encourage my teammates to bring their "A" game every time they step out on the field and to play until the whistle blows. There are three things that I tell myself constantly before and during the game: 1) to be Cool, 2) stay Calm, and 3) play Confident ( I call them the "Three C's"). These three points are vital to me if I want to be an effective leader and become successful because when you stay cool and keep a level head, then you can be a value to your team by staying on the field instead of being kicked out of the game. When you are calm under pressure, you create an advantage for yourself since you will have a clear head to think from when the games get intense and when you play with confidence, the sky is the limit on what you will be able to do for your team.
This is what I try to follow each day and I know that with my God given talents, the desire to continue to get better and not become complacent, and listening to the constructive criticism from my coaches, teammates, and family, I will be able to achieve my dream of becoming a D1 athlete. I believe that if you put in the time, hard work, and stay persistent at your craft, then it will pay off for you in the long run and you will be able to achieve your goals in life.
