Personal Statement
Greetings Coach,
My name is Christopher Stevens and I would first like to thank you for taking the time to review my profile. My work ethic, determination, versatility, leadership/communication skills, as well as a positive, coach-able attitude, are defining characteristics of mine which should interest you as a coach.
I come from a large family with five kids. I am the second oldest, with siblings ranging from 18 to nine. My mother homeschools my three youngest siblings and my father was completing his PhD. As a result I had to mature and step up to many responsibilities much sooner than others, as well as learn to be independent. I was left to oversee my little siblings and had to hone my leadership and communication skills. I carry this over to the field, being awarded “Player Coach” by my teammates and head coach in the 2019 varsity season.
I am an extremely hard, dedicated worker both on and off the field. I almost always stay after practice to get extra words of advice from a coach, stretch, or perform additional workouts to give me a competitive advantage over my peers. I also supplement structured practice with conditioning and strength training to better myself as a player. Academically, I apply this same dedication, taking four AP classes last year, and three more this year. I am able to maintain a high GPA while still excelling athletically - finding a balance that's right for me.
My goals are to play soccer in college while still performing in the classroom to help guarantee myself a future in the fields of communications, business/economics, or a science. I am looking for an intense soccer program and extremely competitive training environment. I believe I would be a good addition to your team.
Thank you for your time and interest,
-Chris
