Personal Statement
My name is Samson Jiya, and I am a 16 year old sophomore from Nigeria. I have played soccer for the better part of my life, both competitively and as a hobby. I have been to soccer camps. I played on the varsity soccer and volleyball teams during my freshman year before relocating to Randolph Macon Academy to continue my education where I also played on the varsity soccer team as a sophomore. I am a versatile forward who is willing to make sacrifices for my team as well as my teammates. I value teamwork and unity and believe that achieving anything is possible through hardwork and faith. I look at my passion as an important characteristic of mine as it helps me give my all.
I take being a student athlete serious as it gives me the opportunity to find a balance in my life. Although being able to compete at the highest level in college is important, I also believe that this should not be to the detriment of my grades.
My goal in the next couple of years is to develop and improve as a student and an athlete. With these improvements, It is my hope that I am blessed with the opportunity to compete at a high level in college soccer and better my skills whilst pursuing a degree.
