Zachary Koenig '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Zack Koenig. I am currently a rising Senior at Cosby High School in Midlothian, Virginia. I just completed my third year (2^nd season due to COVID-19) as a starting varsity winger on the Cosby men’s soccer team which won the VHSL Region 6 championships in 2019 and 2021. In addition, I am a starting winger on the 2003 Richmond Strikers Elite Team (2019 VA NPL State Champions and 2021 Runner Up)  and play for FUTSAL RVA ‘s High School Boys team (2020 Mid Atlantic Champions). Additionally, I have been a recreational runner since elementary school with multiple 5k-10k wins for my age group and a current two-mile time of 11:23. For the 2020 and 2021 school years, I worked part time at a local golf course while maintaining an A/B academic average.

Some common feedback themes from coaches are my “coachability” and “excellent work ethic”.  I readily accept feedback and guidance and push myself to master each new challenge. This theme carries through to teachers and my work supervisor commending me for my reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to step up whenever needed.

I hope to find a school that enables me to succeed in both soccer and academics.
