My name is Owen Nwankolo, class of 2016. I am a senior at Rogers High School, Puyallup Washington. I play varsity soccer at RHS and I also play club soccer at Everton FC. I moved to the U.S in 2013 as a sophomore and started playing for Everton (club team). I moved from England where I started my soccer career. I played for my high school varsity as a 7th grader in England and I played for Sumner Elite FC. I also made it through to the Arsenal Development Academy before I Ieft to move to the US.
College has been one of my greatest educational goals, and I will also want to play soccer at a college and then possibly go on to the MLS. I believe I am a good fit for college soccer because I keep my fitness level as high as possible. I am out running miles every weekend, during and after seasons. I get myself to bed early to recharge my body and to give me all the sleep my body needs. I altered my eating habits by avoiding junk food and adding more whole grains and vegetables. I hit the soccer fields well-beyond required practice to hone my skills. I ramped up my academic rigor and revamped my study habits to improve my GPA. I am a player that will put it all out for my coach and team, and I always make sure I do my best to bring out the best possible result for my team. I am constantly pushing my self and thats why I have been playing 2 or 3 years up for club teams that I play for since I was 13, its all so I can play to best of my ability no matter how old, fast, big, or strong my oppositon are. I put my academics high up on my list of priorities so I make sure my GPA is high and I make sure I work as hard as I can, because I know that its not just about how good of a player you are, but how good of a student you are. I believe I have great potential, but I want to also exceed that potential and be the best player that I can be.
