My name is Elijah Inman and I am a sophomore at Capital High School in Charleston, West Virginia.
I am a competitive and determined athlete who strives to do my best both on and off the field. I’ve had the influence from my parents, especially my dad who was a D1 athlete himself, to always work and to look at any setback as motivation to develop and grow. It was because of this mindset that after not making the Varsity team my Sophmore year that I began to work harder on my foot skills and speed which in turn allowed me to earn a spot with one of the best futbol clubs in our state, make the Varsity team my Junior year, and start in a few conference games.
While I’m very competitive, I’m also a great teammate. I understand that a team is a family, and the bonds we build together can last a lifetime. To fans, they see us win together, but they don’t see the hard work, the training, the sweat, and sometimes the frustration that we go through together. They don’t see how we push each other to do our best. I’ve been blessed to have that encouragement as I’ve developed my skills over the years.
Although I mainly play midfield, I have played other positions so that I could gain a better understanding of how positions work together and become a more versatile player. In addition, while working with my personal skills trainer, we spend sessions working on situation awareness and various game scenarios. As a Center Midfielder, I’ve worked hard to develop my dribbling skills, learned field management to help the team retain possession, and increased accurate passing ability to wingers and forwards.
I want to follow in my dad’s footsteps and become the next collegiate athlete in our family. I’m determined to continue to work hard and be the leader, both on and off the field, that I have been molded and developed to become. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your program and what I can bring to your team. I am confident that my skill, work ethic, and personality would be a great addition.
