Personal Statement

My name is Alex Hofstetter and I am entering my senior year at Verona Area High School in Verona, WI. I have been playing club for the FC Wisconsin Nationals NPL team. This high level of play has groomed me into being a leader and large presence on the field as I captained my team the past two years. Since I was around 10, I knew I wanted to take my soccer to the highest level I could. Today, I have my sights set as I plan to continue to play soccer at the highest level I possibly can, for as long as I can. I am undecided of which level of collegiate soccer that will take me to, but what I do know is that I want to play somewhere that will be highly competitive and push me to be the best I can be. I am currently undecided on exactly what I want to do so schools with a broad range in academic expertise are very appealing to me. However, I believe I have narrowed myself down to sports/business management, sports medicine (kinesiology, physical therapy), and perhaps engineering or even psychology. One of my large aspirations is to be come a college coach so a minor in coaching might also be something I want to do. Academically, I feel I am pretty solid as I have a 3.4 GPA and a 24 ACT with plans to retake. I have taken many rigorous classes to challenge me and prepare myself for college academics.

I believe I am a good fit for a highly competitive team because I am in love with what I do and extremely driven to get better and better. My strengths, in my mind, would be my reactions, athleticism, and ability to play out of the back. My quick movements allow me to cover grown very efficiently, and powerfully. Although I am not very tall, my mindset is not small in any way and I am fearless in net. My explosiveness allows me to cover as much ground as someone who is larger than me and I believe my reactions and shot stopping set me apart. Something I can certainly improve on is getting more length and consistency in my punts and goal kicks. I also work hard on refining my cross management.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my profile!
