Personal Statement
My name is Travis Bednarek and I am a student-athlete who wants to balance academics while also playing competitive soccer in college. I live in Muskego, Wisconsin, am in the 2017 graduating class, and play for the U17 SC Waukesha 98/99 Blue Devils as a starting outside defender.
I am an aggressive player who utilizes a very physical style of play. I back that up with good defending, foot skills, and the ability to run down other players or make a run down the side and blow past defenders. I can see the field and get around players quickly with the ball. I am also a threat in the box on offense and defense because of my height and my ability to put my head on the ball.
I take practice very seriously and treat it like game time. When I’m not practicing soccer I am cross training in the weight room, running, biking, playing basketball, or baseball. My mental toughness and ability to play through minor injuries is well above the majority of players I have seen. This years high school season I found out I had played the entire year with a leg fracture.
I am looking for a school where I can fit in and help the school and its community. I want a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically so I will have success in the future.
