Personal Statement

In all aspects of my life, my mom has taught me to keep my head down and never stop working hard to reach my goals. My next main goal and current focus is to take my academic achievements and soccer skills to the next level - the college level. I have achieved high academic success so far in high school and I intend to carry that on through my college career. I am undecided at this point as to which direction I want to go academically, but I am leaning toward the medical field. I have earned high academic honors and participate in the honors and AP program in high school. I enjoy a challenge and keep working steadily until I understand and succeed with what's in front of me. That hard work extends to the soccer field as well. I feel that my strong work ethic and dedication would make me a valuable asset to any college program. I have worked with several fantastic coaches, rec, high school and club ball, who have helped me improve my game in many ways, from developing better foot skills, reading the field of play, becoming a more physical player and becoming a team leader. I am a work in progress and see my skills and confidence improve each time I head out on the field. I am a leader in that I like to motivate my teammates on and off the field. I am strong minded, but a good listener. I am a hard worker, but know when not to take things too seriously. I am self-motivated, but know when to ask for help. I can take criticism, good and bad, and use it to fuel my success. I am constantly improving my mind, my body and skills. I work well in a group or on my own. I believe I would be a good role model and representative of a college or university both academically and athletically. I welcome the opportunity to rise to the challenge of college life, both on and off the pitch.
