Personal Statement
Soccer is a game of dedication, patience and hard work. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old. When I got to club soccer I started out as a left wing and it wasn't until high school that I transitioned to goalkeeper that has proved successful for me. I've learned many things from playing the position of goalkeeper, about life, the game and myself. When it comes to what I've learned about life is, sometimes you can do everything in your power to stop something from happening but, you won't always succeed and when you don't you need to make quick corrections to find a way to make it work. When it comes to the lessons I've learned about the game is, it takes the whole team to show up to pull out a win, if only a handful of the team shows up ready to play the results will not be the same. Finally, some things I have learned about myself is that I need an education to continue learning and progressing in life. What I've learned from the game is how my personality benefits being a goalkeeper. I'm not one to go after the glory or the fame from scoring all the goals. I'm the type of person that feels good knowing I backed up my team and gave them the confidence to win up front. I'm a leader during the game with communication. Whether it is directing a team member to the open areas that may be exploited or building them up on set pieces. My goal on a team is to give them the confidence to take those offensive attack risks because of their trust in my abilities in goal. My goal is different from most, it isn't to be the most famous or the most liked, I just want to give everything I can offer to my team and when that's the goal of everyone on the team... championships follow.
