Personal Statement

I have been swimming since I was 9 years old. Though I discovered my passion for swimming later than some other kids, I knew that I loved the sport when I first got in. The dream for me is to swim in college and train with some of the best in the division. I know that swimming in college is a life changer and a whole other challenge in itself, but I am ready for that challenge.

I never back down from a challenge and I am always willing to take that extra step to better myself.  In the water my determination to beat my competition pushes me to greater heights and always challenges me in the water. I will always give it my best and do as I am told to my best ability until fault. I will never give up and I will motivate my team to do the same.

Not only do I have the work ethic and determination to succeed at the collegiate level I also have the technique and times. I am a team leader and I lead by example to give my peers a role model to look at. I encourage a hard work ethic and a positive team environment. I can not stand a negative environment to train in and I try to get my team mates to view it the same way. I think the most important characteristic I have is that I am very coachable and I am always open to trying new things with my stroke to help better myself.

Not only do I push myself hard in the pool but also in the classroom. I study hard to maintain my high GPA, I involve myself in clubs, and I volunteer to give back to the community.

I am looking for a college that will help me push myself in and out of the pool. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match  at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a better person as a whole and make my parents, peers, and coach proud.
