Ryan Shaw '16 Recruiting Profile

Swimming has always been a passion of mine.  I have wanted to swim collegiately since I was 5 years old.  Over the years, I have competitively played other sports but swimming has always remained my favorite. This is my first year that I will only compete in swimming.  My collegiate goals are to participate on a NCAA team and compete for a national championship.  I am a great candidate for your team because I posses innate leadership skills as well as a willingness to work hard and continue to learn, develop and improve my swimming skills.  I am different from the other recruits because I am the son of a coach.  My father has coached for over 20 years and has instilled strong principles of hard work and character in me.  He has taught me to respect and listen to my coach making me a very coachable athlete with the willingness to push through ups and downs of competition. I work hard both in the pool and in my academics making me a strong candidate for your swim program.  I hope you will consider me.
