I never knew that I would be in the position I am right now. I feel that my work ethic, especially balancing school and athletics is way up there. I am able to give my time and effort to both even though it seems impossible. I came from a financially troubled family and when I saw that I can do something that could possibly make my parent’s life easier I seized that moment. I want to get a full scholarship for my academics and athletics. I have straight A’s and my times are pretty good so far. As an immigrant from the Philippines, I started off from scratch and learned the environment with minimal help. When I saw that I gained potential in swimming, I cannot let that opportunity go to waste because I can prove that anybody can start from scratch if they put the time and effort.
