I began swimming competitively my freshman year of high school. Damien High School puts a strong emphasis on academic rigor and competitive sports. I have always believed that the academic aspect takes priority over the sports aspect of the school, but I have chosen to excel at both. I have an achievement-oriented mindset, and, to that end, I keep a keen focus on both my academics and my swim times and performances. I have maintained and plan to continue to maintain a 4.0 GPA, and I have kept up with all of my school work and other extra curricular enedeavors. I am proud to continue to participate in my extra curricular activities including being a volunteer at a local homeless shelter, an ambassador to incoming families to Damien High School, a leader of my school's Red Cross Club, an attorney in the Damien Mock Trial program, and a debater on Damien's Debate team. I value being of service to others; therefore, I am fascinated with the justice and legal system and may pursue an aspect of this as a college major. While I have two years of swim experience at this time, I am eager to improve and grow into a more competitive swimmer. As I continue in my third year of swimming, I have come to appreciate that progress only comes by means of dedication, determination, hard work, challenge, and believing in my abilities. My academic rigor, service to my school and community, and long hours in the pool have developed in me a sharper mindset, a passion for competition, and a drive for challenge. I pride myself on maintaining a strong interest in my personal, academic, and athletic growth.
