Personal Statement
If I could do one thing for the rest of my life, it would be to swim. I started swimming as a freshman, on a whim. I showed up the first day telling the coach that I wanted to be a flyer. She thought I was crazy… No one wants to be a flyer. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy it, but also happened to be pretty good at it. Having been an athlete my entire life (I started out as an avid soccer player) I had a really good work ethic in the pool, and worked extremely hard to be better every day than I was the day before. My coaches have noticed this by honoring me twice (once in swim, once in H2O polo) for being a hard worker and a very coachable athlete. Swimming is like breathing for me… I have to do it. There is no doubt in my mind that I want swinning to be a major part of my college education. Over the past two years, I have improved my mentality, my stroke, and my speed, and I even branched out into other strokes. I swim freestyle and some races, and I know that this year my coach will be having me swim the IM, which I am excited about.
I would be a good addition to your swim squad, because I push myself and I push my teammates to be better athletes and better people. In the pool, I am enthusiastic and positive, yet I know there is always room for improvement. I want to find a good college program where I can be an improvement to the program, and the program can help me to improve. I encourage you to take a chance on the little theater kid from Southern California.
