Personal Statement

I'm currently a Senior at Scotts Valley High School enrolled in the full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program and will graduate in June-2017. I will be at least in the top 3% of my class.

PSAT/ACT/SAT Scores:

I have qualified for the National Merit Scholarship Program recognition based on my PSAT scores - almost achieving a perfect score (37.5 out of 38) in the Math component – missing only one question. Using the Superscore method, my ACT composite score is 33 (STEM was 34).  I also sat for the new SAT on March 5th scoring 1400 followed by the SAT Subject Tests in Math Level 2 (770) and Chemistry (730). I am planning on take both subjects once again in November-2016.

In the Pool:

From a swimming perspective, my high school successes so far include:

  • Have broken 5 high school swimming records thus far.
  • Two-time Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League (SCCAL) champion in the 200-Freestyle.
  • Two-time Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League (SCCAL) champion in the 500-Freestyle.
  • Three-time qualifier for the CIF Central Coast Section (CCS) swimming championships in the 500-Freestyle.
  • Finalist in two events at the Washington Open in January-2016 (7th place in 1650 Y Free & 8th place in 1000 Y Free)

For my senior year – my goal is to achieve the NCAA DIII “B” cut times in both the 500 & 1650 Free.

College/Career Goals:

While in college, I am interested in studying Engineering - preferably Aerospace or Mechanical. I would love the opportunity to work with NASA or SpaceX someday and be a part of the Mars Mission or other future space technology.
