Personal Statement
I have been dreaming of swimming in College since the age of 10. I have had some great mentors along the way. I decided in 9th grade to stop all other sports and concentrate on my swimming. That is when I started swimming with a year round club. I wanted to make State as a freshman. I have made State every year since then. I am not afraid of hard work. In the summers we have 2 practices a day. I also swim with my summer league team. I also do some long course meets in the summer. My Dad recently took a job in Las Vegas, I didn't want to change clubs so my Mom and I stayed home in GA until I graduate. Whenever we go out of town for vacation or to visit my Dad, I always find a place to get a practice in, because I know how important it is.
In our family we have a saying that came from my grandfather it is "Remember who you are". Whatever you do you have to remember who you are and not do things that might reflect back on your family, friends or school. I have kept my record clean, I am the leader of my high school team and I have kept my grades up while trying to stay competitive in my sport. I don't always get to do all of the fun things my friends do, but swimming is worth it.
